Description

The R&S® RTC1000 digital oscilloscopes from the Rohde & Schwarz test and measurement product range feature a high waveform update rate, high vertical sensitivity and are available with bandwidths from 50MHz to 300MHz. Depending on the specific model, the oscilloscope offers a maximum memory depth of 2 Msa and a sampling rate of 2 GSa/s.

All R&S® RTC1000 oscilloscopes include mixed-signal functionality as standard, and the R&S® RTC-B1 logic probe is available separately for use with all models.

The analysis of communications between embedded systems is supported by hardware-based signal triggering and decoding for all common protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and LIN). This option can be activated with an upgrade voucher at any time, even after the sale has been completed.

The integrated pattern generator is capable of generating protocol messages at speeds of up to 50 Mbit/s, making it an ideal solution for embedded users. In addition to utilising predefined messages for supported serial protocols, developers have the capability to program their own signal patterns. The integrated, three-digit digital voltmeter is a particularly useful tool for service technicians. The R&S® RTC1002EDU is able to perform voltage measurements on both analogue channels simultaneously, with two values on each channel. A function generator for different types of signals with frequencies up to 50 kHz is an invaluable tool in educational settings. These fundamental principles can be utilised by trainees and students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of a wide variety of measurements. Convenience functions can be disabled in education mode.

Serial bus analysis

I2C, SPI, CAN or LIN are without a doubt the most frequently used communication protocols when it comes to embedded systems interacting with the outside world. The R&S® RTC1000 and R&S® RTC1000 oscilloscopes offer hardware-based signal triggering and decoding for all of these protocols. Customers can upgrade their instruments via software license keys with the functions they need to develop their application.

Pattern generator

Are you working in a distributed project, and the interface definition has been completed but the prototype hardware has yet to be implemented? The pattern generator includes a tool for user programmable 4-bit bus signals that allows you, for example, to emulate a sensor signal in order to continue your work.

Digital voltmeter (DVM)

Component tester

Our tried and tested component tester will also be at your side. A 50 Hz and a 300 Hz measuring frequency is provided to support your potentially tedious search for faulty components. And since a picture says more than a thousand words – or rather a thousand values – you will be able to tell at a glance if your error analysis is on track.

Sinusoidal signal in the time domain

Quite often, the distortion of input signals cannot be detected with the naked eye in the time domain. For example, a sine-wave signal might appear undistorted at first glance. Only the frequency spectrum shown in the frequency domain clearly displays additional harmonics that occur at multiples of the fundamental frequency. Since the FFT function can also be applied to stored waveforms, selected segments of signals acquired in single or stop mode can be analyzed later using a window with user-selectable width.

Due to the high-performance FFT functionality of the R&S® RTC oscilloscopes, signals can also be analyzed in the frequency domain with up to 128,000 points. Other practical tools include cursor measurements and detection of signal peaks. Development engineers can complete their analysis significantly faster, even in the frequency domain.

R&S® RTC1000 - Serial protocol triggering and decoding

Protocols such as I²C, SPI and CAN/LIN frequently transfer control messages between integrated circuits. The R&S®RTC1000 has versatile options for protocol-specific triggering and decoding of serial interfaces. Selective acquisition and analysis of relevant events and data is possible. With the hardware-based implementation, smooth operation and a high update rate is ensured even for long acquisitions. This is advantageous, for example, to capture multiple packetized serial bus signals.

R&S® RTC1000 - Component testing

A component tester and an oscilloscope can be used to examine whether components are defective or functional. By using a component tester capacitors, resistors, transistors, thyristors, coils, zener diodes, diodes and resulting circuits such as rectifiers are tested. The component tester is a valuable tool for troubleshooting, especially if there is no explicit wiring diagram. This is especially true in the hobby field and basic electronic education. To meet these needs and requirements, the new R&S®RTC1000 series oscilloscopes come standard with a component tester, reducing the number of devices required.

R&S® RTC1000 - Digital Channels

The R&S®RTC1000 option turns every R&S®RTC1000 into an intuitive-to-use MSO with 8 additional digital channels. The oscilloscope captures and analyzes signals from analog and digital components of an embedded design - synchronously and time-correlated to each other. For example, the delay between input and output of an A/D converter can conveniently be determined using the cursor measurements.

R&S® RTC1000 - Waveform and pattern generator

The integrated R&S®RTB-B6 waveform and pattern generator up to 50 Mbit/s is useful for educational purposes and for implementing prototype hardware. Apart from the common sine, square/pulse, ramp and noise waveforms, it outputs arbitrary waveforms and 4-bit signal patterns. Waveforms and patterns can be imported as CSV files or copied from oscilloscope waveforms. Before playing signals back, the user can preview them to quickly check signal correctness. Predefined patterns for e.g. I²C, SPI, UART and CAN/LIN can be used.
